Even the best paint finish will age over time. Here are our top 5 reasons why it might be time to refresh your home.

Wondering whether your home needs a touch-up? Here are our top 5 reasons to get your property repainted.

5 – Colour

We’ve all been there – one too many bevvies while watching the Block and the next thing you know you’re painting a black feature wall in your bedroom. If your colour choice doesn’t look the business, a professional can re-do the job to give you a better finish or paint over your dodgy decision with something less drastic. And if you can’t decide, we’re always bang up for helping our customers choose colours.

4 – Design

Sponging, ragging and shabby chic might have been totally bangin’ back in the 90’s but interior decoration has moved on. And so should you. Removing paint from your walls isn’t just about slapping on some paint stripper – different surfaces need different treatments to get them primed for repainting. If you need help moving into the 21st century you know where to find us.

3 – Age

There’re loads of different ways that paint ages, and it depends a lot on the quality of the paint job. In the right house, an aged wall can look the business. But the general rule of thumb is to repaint every 2-3 years. Stick a note on the fridge or on your calendar so you remember when you last had the job done (and put our number next to it so you know who to call when you’re due for a repaint)!

2 – Fading

While we love the Aussie sun it does a real number on paint finishes, especially where the wall has Western exposure. Fading can also be caused by extreme temperature changes, coastal conditions and even dirt and dust. Even if you use a specialised exterior paint you will still see fading over time. The easiest way to check for fading is to look at a patch of wall which gets less sun (behind a tree or under a picture frame). If the two areas are noticeably different it’s time for a refresh.

1 – Peeling

It’s no surprise that peeling is the number one reason to repaint. The most common reason for peeling is moisture, especially if the peeling is happening within a few months of painting. It could also be a sign the wrong type of paint was used or the surface wasn’t prepped properly. We’ve said it before, but doing a job on the cheap means you’ll pay for it twice! Get it done right the first time with Dope Deco.
